Salinas Valley Health regularly recognizes staff with the STAR Award for commitment and excellence and the DAISY Award for extraordinary nurses who demonstrate both outstanding skill and compassion. One of our recent DAISY Award ceremonies was especially poignant. In addition to the usual gathering of executive leaders and staff, the family of one of our oncology patients was on hand to personally express their gratitude to the award recipient, Aerin Rumrill, BSN, RN. The brother and sister of the patient, who passed away from cancer in March, shared their appreciation for the compassionate and skillful care Aerin provided.
