Meet Marine Layer… innovator of cozy + responsible apparel, and the Seeing Green Solutionist of the Day for November 17. New Podcast Episode Alert: Marine Layer in the spotlight (links in comments). Marine Layer has always stood out for its unmistakable style — vintage-inspired, California-casual and built around the idea that clothes should feel broken-in from day one. What began in 2009 as a mission to recreate a perfectly worn-in tee has grown into a full lifestyle brand with custom-developed fabrics, 45+ stores and a loyal community that loves comfort as much as character. Their mens and womens collections are anchored in soft textures, relaxed fits and weekend-easy staples that make everyday dressing feel effortless. But what makes Marine Layer a Seeing Green Solutionist is how consistently they weave responsibility into the business. They are steadily increasing their use of lower-impact materials including organic cotton, upcycled and recycled fibers, TENCEL and hemp. Their Re-Spun program has already diverted hundreds of thousands of pounds of textiles from landfill by inviting customers to return old clothes of any kind for recycling or resale. Packaging has shifted to recyclable paper and FSC-certified materials, and manufacturing partners participate in reputable third-party audits to ensure responsible conditions. Underscoring it all is their status as both a Public Benefit Corporation and a certified B Corp — a commitment to transparency, accountability and long-term stewardship across people and planet. Thank you to Michael Natenshon, Renee Lopes Halvorsen, Molly Getty and the entire Marine Layer team for all that you do! Meet Califia Farms… a leader in plant-based dairy alternatives and Seeing Green Solutionist of the Day for November 14. (Check out their new Seeing Green Podcast spotlight episode – link in comments) Califia Farms is a California-born pioneer in plant-based milks, creamers and coffee beverages, built on a simple idea: make dairy-free options taste great and work seamlessly in everyday life. The company has grown into one of the leading plant-based beverage brands in the natural channel, with a product lineup that now spans almond, oat and coconut milks, barista blends, cold brews, creamers and kitchen staples designed to make dairy-free cooking and coffee feel familiar rather than limiting. Califia’s products offer an accessible way for consumers to reduce the environmental footprint of their daily routines, as plant-based dairy uses significantly less land and water and generates far fewer greenhouse gas emissions than traditional dairy. They’re also investing in more circular and sustainable packaging, renewable energy at their Bakersfield facility and partnerships with farmers who are adopting practices that improve soil health and resilience. Combined with simple, nutrient-forward ingredients that support heart health and meet the needs of people with lactose sensitivity, Califia Farms demonstrates how everyday food choices can add up to meaningful benefits for both people and the planet. Thank you to Dave Ritterbush, Suzanne Saltzman Ginestro, Ella Rosenbloom and the entire Califia Farms team for all that you do! Cheers to Frog's Leap Winery… sustainable winemaking innovator and the #SeeingGreen Solutionist of the Day for November 7. Frog’s Leap Winery is a long-standing Napa Valley producer known for pairing traditional farming with a steady, soil-first philosophy. Founded more than forty years ago, the winery built its reputation on the idea that balanced wines come from balanced vineyards. Their work is grounded in agricultural decisions made at the vine level rather than in the cellar, and they have stayed consistent with that approach as the business has grown. Frog’s Leap farms all estate vineyards organically and relies on dry farming rather than irrigation, which reduces water use and encourages deeper, healthier root systems. The property incorporates native plantings, orchards and hedgerows to support biodiversity across the site. The winery operates a solar array that supplies most of its energy needs, and its hospitality building is LEED certified with geothermal temperature control below the parking area. These choices shape both the environmental footprint and the character of the wines themselves. Thank you to john williams, Tori Williams and the entire Frog’s Leap team for all that you do! Meet COYUCHI... pioneer in sustainable home offerings and the Seeing Green Solutionist of the Day for Nov 3. As the first organic bedding brand in the U.S., they’ve spent more than 30 years showing what it looks like to live closer to nature, crafting sheets, towels and home textiles from 100% organic fibers that are free from plastics, synthetics and toxins. Their approach goes beyond organic to regenerative, working with farms that restore soil health and protect biodiversity. Through programs like 2nd Home Renewed, they’ve also pioneered circularity in home textiles, keeping more than 186,000 pounds of fabric out of landfills by renewing or recycling pre-loved Coyuchi items. Coyuchi is a reminder that the spaces where we rest and recharge should reflect the same care we give to the planet. Natural materials, timeless design and a genuine commitment to the Earth — that’s comfort with a conscience.
