I often get asked, “Why do you involved in so many facets of an industry that moves so fast, especially with the many tasks you need to cover in your own company?”
The truth is: it’s because of the people.
Not the events, not the destinations — but the humans who give their time, talent, and heart to lift our global community.
As a DMC owner, I see every day how much it takes to create meaningful experiences. And within SITE, I see the same passion multiplied across continents. Our volunteers — from committee members to chapter leaders, from first-time contributors to long-standing champions (hurra to our past leaders!!!)— are the reason our association continues to grow, innovate, and inspire.
What moves me most isn’t just what they do, but how they do it:
✨ The many and long planning calls across time zones
✨ The brainstorming sessions full of laughter and ideas
✨ The quiet moments of mentorship and encouragement
✨ The shared belief that incentive travel changes people — and that people change the world
Volunteerism in SITE is a reminder that leadership isn’t always rewarded by titles; sometimes it’s rewarded by purpose, connection, and the knowledge that you’re shaping something bigger than yourself.
To every SITE volunteer around the world: thank you.
Thank you for showing up, for elevating our industry, for building bridges across cultures, and for reminding us what community truly means.
You are the heartbeat of SITE.
You make us shine.
And you inspire me — every single day.
This is your week and we are thankful for each one of you!!
I’d love to know: What motivates you to volunteer? What keeps you coming back to serve and support our industry?
