Over Memorial Day Weekend, the 2025 South Seas Tarpon Tournament brought heart, hope, and hooks to the waters of Captiva Island. Together, we raised over $250,000 in support of Folds of Honor, funding 45 life-changing educational scholarships for families of fallen or disabled service members and first responders in Lee County.   From sunrise casts to sunset celebrations, it was a weekend defined by unity, remembrance, and the power of community. Yesterday marked a powerful milestone at South Seas: our official Grand Reopening ribbon cutting ceremony. Gathered alongside local media, community members, and the South Seas team, we celebrated the restoration of a place that means so much to so many. Visitors took trolley tours across the revitalized property, witnessing firsthand the transformation of South Seas after past storm damage. The celebration continued on The Clutch, where we shared stories, memories, and a renewed sense of purpose, capped with a ribbon cutting backdropped by the dramatic natural beauty of the Gulf. This symbolic gesture marked a significant advancement in the revival of the resort and of Captiva Island. We are proud to celebrate this step into a brighter chapter together. #SouthSeas

To the rescue! 🪶 While working to help reopen the marina, our Marina Attendant, Russ, became an unexpected hero. He spotted a young osprey under attack and unable to fly. Determined to move the bird out of harm's way, he gently wrapped it in a beach towel, placed it safely in a container, and brought the osprey to our friends at CROW - Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife, Inc. on Sanibel Island. CROW veterinarians identified the bird as a juvenile, likely having left the nest too early. Thanks to Russ, the osprey is now receiving the care it needs and will take to the skies above Captiva and Sanibel once it has recovered. We are proud of the care, heart, and dedication that team members like Russ bring to #SouthSeas.

This Memorial Day Weekend, South Seas will partner with Folds of Honor for the second annual South Seas Tarpon Tournament, an unforgettable weekend of sunshine, sport, and heartfelt purpose—all to support scholarships for the spouses and children of fallen or disabled military members and first responders. Last year, we raised $200,000—surpassing our original goal of $150,000 and funding 40 scholarships—through the generosity of local businesses, donors, silent auction items, and tournament participants. With an aim to surpass $200,000 this year, the tournament will generate more educational support than ever for deserving families in the Captiva Island, Sanibel Island, and Fort Myers area.
