Stanford Center on Democracy, Development and the Rule of Law reposted this
We were glad to welcome so many alumni back to Stanford University for Reunion Homecoming 2025! We kicked off the weekend on Friday with a discussion by Michael McFaul about his new book AUTOCRATS VS. DEMOCRATS, which traces the evolving nature of great power competition between Russia, China, and the United States. In the evening, alumni from across the Encina Complex community came together to reconnect and enjoy the beautiful Bechtel Courtyard. On Saturday, an all-star panel of FSI scholars discussed pressing policy challenges like climate change, AI competition, security in the Middle East, threats to democracy worldwide, and the war between Russia and Ukraine. Speaking to a packed house, Marshall Burke, Colin Kahl, Or Rabinowitz, Larry Diamond, and Steven Pifer shared insights into how these challenges can be addressed and the role universities like Stanford play in advancing those solutions.

Housed within CDDRL at the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies (FSI), the Lab is co-directed by Beatriz Magaloni, the Graham H. Stuart Professor of International Relations and FSI Senior Fellow, and Alberto Diaz-Cayeros, FSI Senior Fellow at CDDRL.
