About us

Strava is Swedish for “strive,” which epitomizes who we are and what we do. We’re a passionate and committed team, unified by our mission to connect athletes to what motivates them and help them find their personal best. And with billions of activity uploads from all over the world, we have a humbling and audacious vision: to be the record of the world’s athletic activities and the technology that makes every effort count. Strava builds software that makes the best part of our athletes’ days even better. And just as we’re deeply committed to unlocking their potential, we’re dedicated to providing a world-class, inclusive workplace where our employees can grow and thrive, too. We’re backed by Sequoia Capital, Madrone Partners and Jackson Square Ventures, and we’re expanding in order to exceed the needs of our growing community of global athletes. Our culture reflects our community – we are continuously striving to hire and engage diverse teammates from all backgrounds, experiences and perspectives because we know we are a stronger team together. When you’re ready for a challenge and a team that will support you along the way, join us!

We are excited to welcome Barry McCarthy to the Strava Board of Directors.

I’m proud to welcome Barry McCarthy to the Board of Directors at Strava. Barry brings deep leadership experience from category-defining global subscription platforms including Netflix and Spotify, where he helped guide both companies through pivotal moments of transformation and scale. Barry’s perspective comes at a defining moment for our growth. He joins the board following an extraordinary year, during which Strava surpassed 180 million users, delivered sustained and accelerating revenue growth, and completed the acquisitions of Runna and The Breakaway. As we continue building a durable company with the ambition to become a defining global brand for the next 100 years, I’m excited to have Barry’s partnership on that journey. We were honored to welcome Kate Courtney to Strava SF HQ last week 🚵♀️ An Olympian, World Champion, and pro athlete on Strava, Kate joined us to celebrate her recent UCI World Championship win in Cross Country Marathon (XCM) mountain biking – and thanked the team for their support of the She Sends Foundation by gifting the office a signed rainbow jersey. The She Sends Foundation works to connect, support, and empower women and girls through mountain biking and worked with Strava this year to give a series of grants to U23 racers. Huge thanks to our Senior Director of Product and SSF Board Member, Michelle Chang, for making the connection, and to Kate for sharing her story and inspiring our team. Movement plays a powerful role in supporting both physical health and mental wellbeing, and that's why our Public Policy team, led by Debs Schrimmer and Natasha Ahmed-Walsh, recently convened events in both the US and the UK. Strava brought together experts from across civil society, academia, technology and health to explore how technology should be designed and used in a way to actively improve physical health and wellbeing. Key learnings included: 👥 Creating a community with genuine connections and a shared goal is a critical part of how a platform can address loneliness in society and support wellbeing. 🧠 When thoughtfully designed, technology can support people to form healthier habits and routines - using movement as a pathway to improved wellbeing and mental health. We’re excited to continue working with experts to ensure Strava remains a place that supports your wellbeing, and will continue  to engage with partners who are aligned with this mission. Big thanks to our San Francisco partners and UK partners for joining!
