Here is another snapshot from my recent facility visits. This was taken at The Ranch at Dove Tree in Lubbock, Texas. The teamwork at our facilities continues to impress me. Whether it’s clinical staff, operations, or support teams, everyone plays a vital role in providing quality care and living out our mission each day. Visiting our facilities is always a reminder that teamwork is what makes our mission possible.

  • Crissy Carlisle, our Chief Financial Officer, attended the Nashville Healthcare Council Sessions Conference in September and participated in the Inspiring Women Pod hosted by Laurie McGraw. Crissy demonstrates exceptional leadership, expertise, and strategic vision that strengthens our entire organization. We are fortunate to have her as part of our leadership team. "People don't always have to like the why. But it's critical that they understand the why." Crissy Carlisle earned the label "dictator" by accomplishing the impossible: filing six years of 10-Ks in twelve months during one of corporate America's largest fraud recoveries. She deployed autocratic leadership because the moment demanded it. The relisting happened. The directive was executed. Then came the harder part. "There was a lot of one-on-one time spent going to other leaders throughout the organization, spending high quality one-on-one time inside and outside the office." What Carlisle understood was radical: successfully deploying the right leadership style doesn't erase its consequences. She could defend her approach. She could point to results. But labels stick. Perceptions calcify. So she made a conscious choice to spend the next two years rebranding herself, not through announcements or reputation management, but through relentless one-on-one connection. "No matter what the deadline was or how prioritized, ensuring that whoever I was working with understood the why." This wasn't about making people like her decisions. It was about making them understand her thinking. The distinction matters. One seeks approval. The other builds trust through transparency, even when the path forward is difficult. The lesson isn't that crisis leadership is wrong. It's that conscious evolution afterward is essential. Since joining Summit, I’ve emphasized the importance of our mission and values. These principles lead our teams and guide our direction every day. At Summit BHC, our values — honesty, competence, perseverance, passion, respect, and teamwork — shape everything we do. This past week, I visited nine more of our facilities. Every stop has provided an inspiration for the care we provide and affirms that we improve the lives we touch. One of our values is competence, but competence isn’t just about knowledge; it’s about a commitment to quality, continuous learning, and accountability. Last week’s visits were a clear reminder of what that value looks like in action. From our clinical teams to our support staff, I’ve seen firsthand how our people strive to be the best at what they do, delivering care that changes lives. Our mission to improve the lives we touch remains at the heart of that work.
