At Temple Health, innovation and patient safety go hand-in-hand. That’s why we implemented the EndoTool Sub-Q predictive software system across our campuses. The powerful tool uses algorithms to deliver individualized insulin dosing based on individual factors. The results have been remarkable: 2–3x reduction in hypoglycemia rates, significant improvement in blood sugar control, and better recovery outcomes following procedures This success is thanks to the collaboration of physicians, nurses, and our Super Users, who provided expert training and support to ensure seamless adoption across multiple locations. Their dedication, and the rapid, measurable results, show the impact of combining advanced technology with exceptional clinical care. The Temple Heart & Vascular Institute helped patient Lauren recover from life-threatening blood clots through advanced diagnostics and expert surgical care. Under the leadership of Dr. Anjali Vaidya, Director of the Advanced Pulmonary Hypertension, Right Heart Failure & CTEPH Program, Lauren underwent a comprehensive evaluation and was diagnosed with chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH). To treat it, the Temple Heart & Vascular Institute team identified Lauren as a candidate for pulmonary thromboendarterectomy (PTE). “In Lauren’s case, we were able to do a partial sternotomy, which is a very minimally invasive approach, and one Temple is pioneering,” said Dr. Yoshiya Toyoda, Chief of Cardiovascular Surgery, who performed Lauren's PTE. “A smaller incision and shorter circulatory arrest time lead to better outcomes.” Today, Lauren is back to doing what she loves—including playing soccer and throwing out the first pitch at I Heart Phillies Night presented by Temple Health. Her recovery reflects our team's depth of experience in managing CTEPH and delivering highly specialized care for complex cardiac conditions. “Being able to take patients who are so limited in their lives and give them an incredible quality of life back is one of the greatest rewards in medicine,” said Dr. Vaidya. Temple Health at European Respiratory Society 2025: Advancing Care and Sharing Insights. This year's ERS Congress is quickly approaching, and we are thrilled to have members of our faculty presenting in key areas of advancement in lung disease. Dr. Parth Rali, MD, FCCP, FAPSR Associate Professor will lead an interactive session exploring how to build and operate a successful Pulmonary Embolism Response Team (PERT). Through a mock PERT call scenario, Dr. Rali will demonstrate how to mobilize a multidisciplinary team in time-sensitive, high-stakes cases. He will also discuss protocols to differentiate acute PE-related right ventricular failure from CTEPH, and strategies for hospital transfers and alternative pathways when preferred interventions aren’t available. Temple Health is proud to advance multidisciplinary, evidence-based care for patients with life-threatening PE.
