Today, we honor the resilience, beauty, and truth of Indigenous LGBTQ+ and Two-Spirit young people. Many face disproportionate structural inequalities, anti-LGBTQ+ violence, and disproportionately high rates of mental health struggles. But we also know: support saves lives. Among Native LGBTQ+ youth, those who felt genuine family support had far lower rates of suicide attempts (13%) compared to 24% for those who did not. This Native American Heritage Day, we don’t just remember culture — we demand justice. We advocate for Indigenous LGBTQ+ youth. We fight for their safety, their mental health, their dignity.
