The Wall Street Journal reposted this
Companies used to prohibit their employees from posting about their jobs on social media. Now, they want a hand in crafting the content. For The Wall Street Journal, I reported on how Delta Air Lines, Starbucks, Portillo's and others are enlisting their own rank-and-file employees to make videos about what goes on at work. The strategy lets employers show their workplaces as happy ones and get some grassroots-like marketing out of their often young, digital-native staffers (though, the Delta flight attendant I talked to is 64!) For employees, it is a chance to channel their budding content-creation skills into greater visibility and access to perks, such as work trips and professional-development training. These programs are very new and limited to a small number of people. Starbucks, for example, has 53 baristas as part of its program, while Delta has 15. Starbucks pays its employees by the post, but, generally, workers don't get extra compensation for being part of these programs. And, it all has to feel authentic, which is tricky when you're someone posting about what goes on at your office. You can read more about this at the gift link in the comments. Is your company testing something like this? And what do you think about this practice? #workplace #careers #influencermarketing
