We were honored to welcome California State Senator Dr. Aisha Wahab to our clinic last week for an important conversation on the role community health centers play in delivering comprehensive, integrated care. From addressing homelessness and behavioral health needs to discussing strategies for funding, mental health partnerships, and outreach, Senator Wahab’s insights were invaluable. With Medicaid patients making up the vast majority of our patient community, her support is vital as we navigate funding challenges and continue providing high-quality care for all. Our first-ever WIC-Travaganza brought together over 300 families to celebrate World Breastfeeding Week and National Breastfeeding Month! Families enjoyed a full day of fun and resources, from our photo booth, face-painting, balloon-twisting, and kids’ story time to raffle prizes like bikes, scooters, wellness baskets, and more. Alongside these activities were our amazing tabling partners, who shared breastfeeding, family health, and parenting resources, making the event such a success. We could not have imagined a better way to celebrate the strength and commitment of our WIC families and the value of breastfeeding and early nutrition in setting a foundation for lifelong health. TVHC CEO Andrea Schwab-Galindo recently hosted a special lunch to honor our 2024 Values Champions—team members who go above and beyond every day to embody our organizational values. Each of our champions was nominated by their colleagues and selected for the ways they consistently show up for both patients and teammates. We’re also proud to share that one of this year’s champions, Appointment Clerk/Medical Receptionist America Cardenas Rangel, was recently accepted into nursing school. “I want to sincerely thank TVHC for being a pivotal influence in my decision to apply to nursing school,” America shared. “Seeing firsthand how we positively impact our patients’ lives has inspired me to continue that work as a Registered Nurse.” America will begin her nursing journey next spring at Ohlone College, and we look forward to continuing to see her growth as a TVHC team member. A huge thank you to all of our 2024 Values Champions for their unwavering dedication and resilience towards patient care and teamwork. You bring our mission to life!
