In times of tragedy, Pittsburgh finds strength in coming together. Our hearts go out to everyone affected by yesterday's tragedy at the Clairton Coke Works plant. We stand with the families, workers, and first responders who are navigating the grief and pain of this difficult moment. Events like this not only affect those directly involved but can also weigh heavily on the community as a whole. Many of us can experience lingering grief, fear, and unease. If you're feeling overwhelmed, here are some ways to support your mental health during difficult times: ✅Acknowledge your feelings – Whether it’s sadness, fear, or anger, all emotions are valid. ✅Stay connected – Reach out to loved ones. Talking can be a powerful way to process emotions. ✅Prioritize self-care – Sleeping well, staying hydrated, and unplugging from constant updates can help create balance. ✅Seek professional support – Our region has a multitude of mental health resources here to help you work through any challenges. Remember, healing takes time and is deeply personal, but no one has to go through it alone. If you or someone you know needs support, help is available. Together, as always, Pittsburgh finds strength in unity, care, and compassion. 💛🖤 #PittsburghStrong #MentalHealthMatters #CommunitySupport

  • This is what it's all about. The path to becoming a licensed therapist is a difficult one, and unfortunately many therapists find themselves unable to achieve licensure despite a drive and desire to do so. There are so many barriers along the journey: difficulty finding a supervisor, time, financial constraints, complex documentation burdens, burnout, to name a few. That's why we're committed to supporting early career therapists with paid supervision, peer groups, clinical trainings, exposure to a diverse client base, and a collaborative learning environment. ✨ Congratulations to Ariadni Kertsikof on achieving 1,000 hours of clinical contact! This is no small feat, and speaks to your resilience. Thanks so much for sharing your experience, it's a story that isn't shared enough. We're so glad you spent this time with us and we can't wait to see how you'll continue to grow. 🪴 #HelpingYouHelpOthers #TherapyCareers #Supervision

    Outpatient Therapist, MA MHC

Though clinical measures can be informative, the effect of psychotherapy on someone's life far exceeds what can be quantified. It follows that, as clinicians, it can be difficult to delineate the breadth and amount of change that can be directly attributed to our work. Since our clients are the only direct witnesses of our interventions, it can also be hard to truly trust the words of supervisors and colleagues regarding the quality of the work we perform.   This week, I hit the milestone of 1,000 hours of direct clinical contact; 1,000 hours of therapy sessions. In these hours, I have met with 49 clients -for lengths of time ranging from 2 weeks to 10 months. Aside from my mostly adult caseload of individual clients, I have worked with 4 teens and 2 couples, I have treated various levels of severity of Depression, Anxiety, Social Anxiety, PTSD and Complex PTSD/DESNOS, Agoraphobia, Schizophrenia, Personality Disorders, psychosis, Eating Disorders and disordered eating. I have supported individuals struggling with various forms of addiction, as well as many in toxic relationships.   It is hard to know exactly how much I have accomplished in these 1,000 hours. What I do know is that I have built meaningful therapeutic relationships, offered compassion, insight and challenge, and shared abstract observations of patterns and concrete ways to break them, using interventions informed by various types of psychotherapy. I have experienced challenges to my clinical and personal way of thinking, and have had to adapt my conceptualization and approach. Most importantly, I have had the pleasure of engaging in work that I find meaningful, and which feels like my life's passion and purpose.   Thank you, Transformations Care Network for being so much more than an employer. Thank you for being such a supportive vehicle for the work I love, for giving me access to clients with such a wide range of socioeconomic, racial and ethnic backgrounds, and the support that I need to treat them.   Thank you also Time2Track for helping me track my hours as I make progress towards becoming a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in MA!
