Living our purpose creates deep and meaningful impact in many ways. Tonight’s Inspire Awards ceremony exemplified that impact when Truist Foundation awarded a $250,000 grant to FreeWorld—a nonprofit that’s a remarkable example of purpose and innovation that addresses two problems at once. FreeWorld empowers formerly incarcerated individuals to secure living-wage jobs—typically training and landing them jobs as truck drivers in less than two months. The work supports people at a crucial time, and it helps fill a void. Our economy relies on truckers, but there’s a severe shortage. This grant will help FreeWorld expand to new locations where they can train more people. Congratulations to FreeWorld for the incredible work you do, and thank you to Amanda (Amy) Collins, Kathleen Farrell, Lynette Bell and the Truist Foundation team for their purposeful leadership, as well as MIT Solve for their collaboration with the Inspire Awards.
