Jared was recognized for his outstanding service, leadership and collaboration with numerous partner organizations. His work spans from shaping Union County’s Rural Land Use Plan and supporting controlled burns at Cane Creek Park, to volunteering with the Firefighters’ Burned Children’s Fund and advancing cross-departmental emergency response training. Union County leadership is proud to honor Assistant Fire Marshal Chad Baucom with the Lifesaver Award for his heroic actions while off duty. While vacationing with his family at the beach, Baucom heard cries for help from the ocean. Without hesitating, he and a bystander rushed to an unconscious man, brought him to shore and performed CPR. He continued to assist local responders until the man was taken to a hospital.
