“Jamaica isn’t just where I’m from, it’s who I am… To fly this mission was a privilege—to serve my island, my people, and to live out that spirit of ‘One Love.’” — Captain Trevor B. In the wake of Hurricane Melissa, UA 3019 departed for Montego Bay last week carrying critical supplies, water and a plane-full of love. Several of the crew members were proud Jamaican pilots and flight attendants, making this journey an opportunity to bring their skills home in a time of need. More help is on the way. You can support Hurricane Melissa relief efforts by donating cash or MileagePlus miles to our non-profit partners [Airlink], [Good360], [World Central Kitchen] and the [American Red Cross], and we’ll match you up to $100,000 and 1 million miles. Donate now through November 30: uafly.co/melissa

At four years old, future First Officer Alex P. proudly wore his father’s pilot hat and carried a cardboard flight deck to school on Career Day. 22 years later, he got to take to the skies for his very first United flight with his dad, Captain G.J. P., by his side. Alex's great-grandfather started flying back in the early 1900s, launching a family tradition that makes Alex a fourth-generation pilot. And now he’s got his very own hat. 👨✈️

For more than 25 years, we've partnered with the National Disabled Veterans Winter Sports Clinic to fly hundreds of veterans to Colorado. The annual week-long event in Snowmass empowers participants to learn adaptive sports like skiing, climbing and curling. And there to welcome these inspiring athletes and cheer them on? Volunteers from two of United's Business Resource Groups, United4Veterans and Bridge, a group dedicated to advocating for a workplace that benefits our co-workers and customers with and without disabilities. We're all joining the cheering section today to say thank you to the thousands of selfless United and customer veterans for your courage and commitment. #VeteransDay
