STATEMENT BY USIBC   The U.S.–India Business Council (USIBC) applauds the recent positive remarks by President Trump and Prime Minister Modi, and underscores the importance of safeguarding the strong U.S.–India partnership at a time of global uncertainty. For 50 years, USIBC has worked to promote closer economic ties between our two nations, helping build the collaborative environment vital for innovation, job creation, and resilient supply chains.   Through 25 years of partnership, the U.S. and India have demonstrated that we can resolve our disagreements through private, mutually respectful discussion. At this difficult impasse, the business community urges both governments to do so once again. #USIBC Statement on GST Reforms The U.S.-India Business Council (USIBC) extends its appreciation to the Prime Minister, GST Council, and the Finance Ministry of India over the recent tax reforms. We commend the government's efforts to boost consumption and improve the ease of doing business in India. The reduction of GST on products across sectors—including food, healthcare, life-saving drugs, renewable energy devices, and electronics—will not only improve consumer access and affordability and benefit businesses but also strengthen India’s growth story. The rationalization of tax slabs marks an important step towards building a simpler, transparent, and more efficient tax system. Such forward-looking reforms not only improve the business climate in India but also send a strong signal to global investors about the country’s commitment to fostering growth and ease of doing business.
