August is National Immunization Awareness Month National Immunization Awareness Month (NIAM) is an annual observance held in August to highlight the importance of vaccination for people of all ages. Vaccines give you the power to protect yourself and your family against serious diseases, like whooping cough, cancers caused by HPV and pneumonia through on-time vaccination. As your children head back to school this fall, make sure vaccination is at the top of your checklist. August is also a key time to make sure you are up to date on all the vaccines you need to stay healthy. Use CDC’s adult vaccine assessment tool to see which vaccines might be right for you. For your children, from birth to age 6, the use this CDC vaccine schedule for Recommended Vaccinations for Infants and Children. Resources Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC): National Immunization Awareness Month resources, including interactive vaccine guide, toolkits for parents and up-to-date recommendation. Congratulations to Genesis Pajarito, a Tech Lab Assistant in our Pathology department and one of our March 2025 Employees of the Month! See what her colleagues had to say: "Genesis is a tech lab assistant who is always willing to learn new tasks outside the scope of her job. What stands out most about Genesis is that she models positive behavior by creating a cheerful work environment and demonstrating that even if a task is not part of her job duties and responsibilities, she is more than willing to learn because, at the end of the day, getting the work done is really what matters most for our patients and providers. Genesis' effort exemplifies all of Valley's Caregiver commitment because it shows through her work ethic, positive behavior, and interdepartmental cooperation. She never gives less than 100%."

Leading with Safety, Supporting with Compassion: Congrats to February 2025 Hero, Erica Feldmann See what her colleagues had to say: Erica's efforts exemplify caregiver commitment through the unwavering support she provides to all clinical and non-clinical staff members at Valley Medical Center. Her leadership in guiding the organization through seven RCA cases in 2024 ensured that all team members involved had the resources, education, and collaborative environment needed to address safety concerns and implement meaningful process improvements. By establishing the Falls Committee, Erica created a vital platform for interdisciplinary teamwork, empowering staff across all departments to identify risks, investigate fall events, and implement prevention strategies that enhance patient care. Erica's dedication extends beyond processes—she is a mentor and resource for her colleagues, offering training, encouragement, and actionable insights that empower everyone she works with to prioritize safety and quality."
