Our Setting the Stage event is just around the corner! On September 13th at Xfinity Mobile Arena, we’ll be honoring Beverly & Gregory Deavens and celebrating 20 years of life changing Valley Youth House services in the Philadelphia area. We’re also privileged to share that one of our youths will be in attendance to tell their story and reveal the impact that Valley Youth House had on their life. Following our event, guests will enjoy attending a concert featuring Eric Clapton and The Wallflowers! A sincere thank you to our co-chairs, Joseph G. Cacchione, MD, FACC, CEO of Jefferson Health, and John Fry, President of Temple University, as well as our generous sponsors for helping make this incredible night a reality. We're so excited to honor our friends Beverly & Gregory Deavens and Independence Blue Cross!

Building Foundations. Shaping Futures.
About us
Valley Youth House is the catalyst for youth to achieve their desired future through genuine relationships that support families, ensure safe places, and build community connections. We began in 1973 as a single shelter in Pennsylvania’s Lehigh Valley. Valley Youth House was open day and night, ensuring that vulnerable, abused and homeless young people in the community had access to shelter and counseling. Even then, we represented more than just a roof and beds; we were an organization committed to building a solid foundation for every individual who came through our doors. That same dedication still drives us today, as we have grown from that first house in the Valley to over 250 residential sites throughout Pennsylvania. Though our reach and programming has vastly expanded, our mission remains the same. We educate, empower and strengthen the lives of children, youth and families, and build skills that foster growth and independence. For over forty-five years, we have been proud to be there for two generations. We stand ready to be there for the next generation as well. Our doors remain open – we just have more of them now.

Welcome back to The Prevention Platform! As the school year kicks off, September is the perfect time to talk about the importance of attendance. In today's episode, we are helping parents and caregivers spot early signs of truancy to build strong habits that will keep kids in school and on track from day one. In this episode, we are joined by Kyle Borowski, who is the Associate Director of Clinical Services, Behavioral Health and Child Welfare here at Valley Youth House. For the past four years, Kyle has supervised VYH's Truancy Intervention Program which works with families in the Lehigh Valley to address attendance related barriers. We're incredibly proud of Christina DiPierro, our Program Coordinator for The Synergy Project Lehigh Valley, and her contribution to the Community Conversations event earlier this week. Held at the Allentown YMCA by the Allentown Commission on Homelessness (which Christina also co-chairs), this event gathered local non-profits, government agencies, individuals with lived experience and more to not only be more aware of unhoused individuals in Allentown, but to help plan next steps for the city and surrounding cities/areas. This was the second Community Event to bring awareness and support. In attendance was Mayor Tuerk, staffers from Rep. Mackenzie's office, Allentown City Council members, and more. Events like this are so important in educating each other about the issues facing our community and how to come together to alleviate them.
