  • If time between visits is getting longer and follow-through is slipping for your veterinary practice, try these three things: ✅ Time messages in a simple cadence (coming due → due → past due). ✅ Lead with a one-line “why” so clients know what to do — and why now. ✅ Make your pharmacy part of the care plan so refills stay on track. • A new article published in the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association (JAVMA) argues that improving affordability and access to veterinary care will require a shift from a provider-centered model to a pet family-centered model of care. According to authors Emily Tincher, DVM, and Jules Benson, BVSc, a pet family-centered model of care should deliberately integrate each household’s goals, values, and constraints into medical decision-making. Nonjudgmental communication and an explicit understanding of client needs must sit alongside clinical priorities if practices want to remain relevant and sustainable in a changing market. • A new study has assessed how pet owners perceive and access veterinary care, and how those perceptions drive their decisions. Most respondents defined “access to care” in terms of provider availability, ease of communication, and affordability, and more than half of pet-owning care-seekers reported distrusting their veterinarians.
