All we can talk about in the office this week: Instagram’s newest update: REPOSTS 🔁 📸
ICYMI, Instagram rolled out a repost feature on all feed posts - think Twitter RTs or Pinterest repins. It’s small, but it has big potential for brands. We talked with one of our Strategists, Saebryn Peel, to get her take on how we might roll this out across the 40+ brands we support on social.
Here’s how we’re thinking about it:
💡Community building: Reposting a creator content, either influencer or everyday posters, gives them public recognition (and a little serotonin boost). For creators, a repost in-feed feels like the biggest love letter from the brands they love.
💡Social proof: It’s a lightweight way to show that people outside of your brand are talking about you. Reposts legitimize the brand, and put new, real faces behind products.
💡Longevity: Until now, the only way to reshare someone else’s content was through Stories - where it disappeared after 24 hours. Now, with reposts, that social proof can live on in feed for everyone to see.
💡Content strategy: It’s a reminder to keep making content that’s not only scroll-stopping, but repostable. The more viral-worthy your content, the more likely it is to get picked up by creators, fans, and now, brand feeds.
We’ve used reposts on TikTok, but we're even more excited to see how this shows up on a platform where community, and looking at who you already know, is so important!!
And of course, we’ll keep making viral-worthy, repostable content worth sharing to drive brands' presence even further on Instagram.
P.S. - your followers get notified about your first repost, so use it wisely 😉
