In this episode of The Construction Revolution Podcast, we sit down with Adam Stark of Jet.Build. We discuss Adam and his co-founder Joseph’s fascinating path to developing the software and founding the company. From creating their initial software to solve challenges they were facing in their respective Real Estate Development roles, they have developed the software into a complete solution that addresses all of the operational needs on a jobsite.

We’ll also dive into the future of Jet.Build as well as other exciting advancements in construction technology. Additionally, we’ll discuss how Adam's diverse experiences, from being in the special forces to becoming a yoga instructor, helped start and grow Jet.Build.

differentiator as I’ll call it from the legacy products, first and foremost, legacy products typically will have a really crazy price point.

Second is, as it relates to the product being that we built a product as the end user, as the operator, we were able to create something that is very intuitive, the tools that are literally needed on job sites coming from that angle, that perspective and understanding and consolidating needs from stakeholders that are involved. So a lot of legacy tools focused specifically on enterprise GCs, whereas what we’re doing is focusing general, generally speaking on the S&B market, main reason that sales cycle and ability to make a decision is quicker, which is very important for an earlier stage company.
However, what we’re doing is we’re bridging this collaboration gap and saying, “Hey, GCs get on board, design team gets on board and developer owns this license and gets on board and enable everybody to work collaboratively as is needed on a construction or development project, remove this finger pointing.” And then also as we mentioned before, allow for the developer to absorb this data and then leverage that as reporting.

Accountability is critical to the success of every single construction project. In order for that accountability to work between the contractor, the owner, the subcontractors, and the project partners, there must be transparency. My guest is Adam Stark. Adam is a Founder of Jet.Build. Along with his co-founder, Adam has recognized inefficiencies in the construction management process based on his years of experience as a practitioner of construction management.

Before his career in real estate, Adam served in the Israeli Defense Special Forces and obtained a Bachelor’s degree from Northeastern University and an MBA from New York University. I mentioned that because, in our discussion, we begin with an overview of this idea of accountability and how it has to be driven and committed to by all players in a construction project.

We take a very interesting turn later on in the interview, and you need to stick around to make sure that you get this into Adam’s experience in the IDF, in the Israeli Defense Force, and how that has influenced the way that he functions in the construction industry. We talk about learning accountability in extreme circumstances, the skills of communication across teams that he learned in the IDF, as well as the importance of structure.

We talk about what does and what doesn’t translate into the construction field from his experience in the Special Forces. We take a deep dive into how to use concepts of developing people from someone who comes in as a raw recruit to someone who’s an effective personnel person. How do we use those kinds of concepts in developing talent in our construction company? The conversation is wide-ranging. That’s what I’m getting to here. I want you to read each part because each one can give you great takeaways to help you to be more successful as a construction company owner and leader. Check out my conversation here with Adam. I know you’re going to enjoy it.

Jet.Build aims to simplify construction project management to increase productivity throughout the industry and push it to levels seen in other industries.
The complication of software has created a duplicative effort, with users both using the software and printing materials. Simplifying the product can address this issue and improve productivity through digital transformation. Adopting a new solution does not have to be complicated or take a long time, and can be done quickly and easily. Users are used to technology and can adapt to new products quickly.
The adoption of technology is inevitable in all industries as the general workforce has some level of familiarity with it.
The construction and development industry has a bad reputation because people don’t recognize the level of complexity involved in building anything. The collaboration between different teams and companies is crucial, and utilizing a platform to centralize information and workflows to make it easier for everyone to understand their responsibilities and how they impact others is of utmost importance. The platform must have measures to create downstream simplicity, such as access and permission controls and limiting product visibility to specific workflow or responsibilities for end-users.
To overcome challenges related to technology adoption, key leaders in your company must understand how technology can support them. By leveraging tools like budget and forecasting reports or payment applications, leaders can grasp how technology can benefit their operations.
The future of technology in construction and development should prioritize standardization and a central command center for communication and data management. Leveraging specific technologies to increase efficiency is key, but this should not mean replacing human workers entirely. Instead, modular construction may be a potential direction for the industry.

Jet.Build is a platform that enables real estate developers to streamline communication between vendors, partners, lenders, and other important stakeholders on projects. This is accomplished by digitizing and automating a lot of the manual processes you might encounter when completing a ground up or retro-fitting an older apartment building. Tools such as Jet.Build help companies initiate and progress significantly in digitally transforming; ultimately leading to saved time, money, and effort. Adam shares more about the opportunity of ahead of Jet.Build and the industry as a whole. Listen in to hear what he has to say.
    More about Adam and Jet.Build
Think about organizations that leverage a Salesforce for their sales department, a Hubspot for their marketing department, an ADP for their HR department, a Netsuite for their accounting department—and so forth.

Jet.Build is the equivalent organizations necessity for real estate operators; a cloud-based command center. Jet-clients? Developers, contractors, owners reps, construction managers—and a few more unique cliental.

My co-founder and I know each other first as enemies; competing in high school sports agains one another. Fast forward, we end up in the same military enlistment as airborne troops (paratroopers). Fast forward again, we end up in NYC working for real estate developers. Here, we recognized the need for a better 'salesforce' equivalent solution for the industry; the legacy products that exist are simply outdated, clunky, and wildly priced. Jet.Build will standardize the industry as the essential organization management software.
