Food on Foot operates a weekly meal program every Sunday in Hollywood. Food on Foot began in March 1996 as one man's response to the hunger he witnessed among the poor and homeless of Hollywood. What initially began as the distribution of meals from the trunk of a car has grown through the dedication of its volunteers and now serves more than 200 meals each week to homeless, disabled, elderly and low-income adults and children.

How did I start Estes Group? This is one of the most common questions I receive from friends and other recruiters in the industry. Here is a quick list of what I did… I hope this helps! First step is identifying what your company will offer and who you will serve. 1. Define your services, ideal customer, and pricing -- Understand these will likely change as you sell more, talk with more customers, and better understand the market. 2. Decide on a company name-- secure your domain name for a website & email 3. Use a tool like Looka to create a logo and initial brand kit. 4. Build your website- I used Wix - you can also outsource this on Upwork. Follow the next steps in order: 1. Determine your business structure: Are you a single-member LLC? Will you file as an S-Corp? 2. File for an EIN - you can do same-day processing 3. Create an operating agreement - you'll need this when getting a bank account 4. Apply for a business license with your State AND City 5. Find a bank to open a business checking account, savings account, and secure a business credit card (you need both an EIN and Operating Agreement to do this) 6. Make your initial investment into the business- I put $5k in - bootstrapped all the way! 7. Purchase business insurance or at least research what you'll need when you get your first customer NEXT… Find your first customer. Two years later, this list was easier for me to put together and share. In the moment, it looked more like me asking a million questions, having self-doubt that I was doing something wrong, finding encouragement from my friends and family. Here is a picture from getting my first business license. I brought my youngest with me so she could see Mommy at work.

According to the latest SIA | Bullhorn Staffing Indicator (Aug. 12, 2025), US staffing hours hit their highest mark of the year in the week ended Aug. 2 — surpassing February and March peaks. While year-over-year comparisons show a -4% dip (largely due to an unusually strong ramp-up this time last year), the data highlights some key positives for our industry: - Highest weekly hours of 2025 so far - Commercial staffing showing slight growth in 2025 YTD - Professional staffing set up for easier comparisons in the back half of the year As SIA President Ursula Williams noted, the US economy remains resilient — and this is a dynamic moment for staffing leaders to make strategic moves in service lines, technology, and operations that will shape performance into 2026. As I see it, the market is moving, demand is there, and firms that make smart, forward-thinking decisions NOW will be positioned to win.

When good news is bad news The December BLS jobs data is consistent with the pattern seen throughout 2024 in which the labor markets remained healthy, inflation decreased, and recession fears eased. In hindsight, 2024 showed all the signs of experiencing a "soft landing" with a slightly cooling economy and inflation in line with the Federal Reserve's goal. Friday's jobs report showed that hiring continued at a healthy pace, potentially too high, indicating the economy is running "hot." This dampens expectations that the Fed will ease pressure on the economy by cutting rates again in the near future. Several economists commented that the stronger-than-expected labor numbers suggests that the Federal Reserve may not consider lowering interest rates again until at least June, and that it is possible we see no U.S. rate cuts at all during the entirety of 2025. So, while perhaps "bad news" for the equity markets, the December BLS data strongly suggests that the underlying job markets remain strong.
