To be clear, DEI is not political, at least not in my work. Intentionally building and honoring a blend of approaches/backgrounds/identities has made our companies more successful, happier, and more lucrative. Two years ago I ventured into HR consulting —creating handbooks, advising on compliance, helping organizations hire well, manage fairly, and support their teams through change. I’ve loved being the go-to person for all things people and policy. But lately, something has shifted. After some deep reflection on where I want to grow next and how I can make the most impact, I realized I’m ready to move beyond traditional HR consulting. I’m shifting toward People Operations strategy—a more holistic, forward-thinking approach that allows me to work at the intersection of people, systems, and organizational purpose. It’s a natural next step that builds on everything I’ve done, while pushing me to think bigger about how HR can drive meaningful, long-term change. What’s the difference? Traditional HR consulting is often reactive: solving problems, ensuring compliance, putting out fires. People Ops strategy is proactive: it’s about designing the systems, structures, and culture that enable people to do their best work, before the fires start. It means asking different questions: ➡️ How can our org structure reflect our values and mission? ➡️ What does sustainable success look like for our people and our bottom line? ➡️ How do we build equitable, transparent, and human-centered systems for performance, growth, and engagement? The future of work requires more than policies—it requires strategy. And that’s where I’m focusing my energy. This work lights me up.
