The Grand Rapids City Commission is weighing plans to build a $20 million indoor driving range and entertainment facility at the city-owned Indian Trails Golf Course, which parks officials say could attract 135,000 new visitors and generate about $2 million in profits annually. Grand Rapids Director of Parks and Recreation David Marquardt presented the results of a golf entertainment facility feasibility study, which dates back to 2022, this morning to the city commission. Most of the commissioners were receptive to the proposal, which could require the city borrowing $20 million to build, based on the potential investment and ability to attract visitors to the third ward on the far south side.
