“Mikal Vega was the Leading Petty Officer in Delta Platoon. As a Leading Petty Officer of a SEAL Platoon, Mikal’s responsibilities where great. Mikal had to supervise and coordinate all of the departments within a SEAL Platoon. (Air Operations, Intel, Diving, Engineering, Communications & Weapons) He had to ensure that all of the equipment in each and every department was always mission ready. A substantial amount of the gear Mikal supervised was classified and worth millions of dollars. Mikal also arranged various training exercises to ensure that the Platoon was well prepared and operational ready. Mikal’s leadership and dedication ensured that Delta Platoon was well equipped and well trained to operate effectively on any known element on the planet. Mikal had a great impact on me and I consider him one of my great teachers in life. I was a young and aggressive SEAL and he took the time to teach me about real leadership. Mikal gave me chances at having responsibility. He would teach me by asking me about the reasoning for my decisions while encouraging me to be bold in my goals. When Mikal was working on various cutting edge and innovative ways at improving important pieces of equipment he would give me a role to play so I could celebrate in the achievement. This was an important step in building leadership skills in a young SEAL. Mikal would also invite me to attend meetings where I would normally not have been invited. He was teaching me by letting me observe how influential SEAL’s operated and conducted business. When I made a mistake; Mikal would council me off line about how I could improve. When something was bothering me, he would take the time to listen and gave me real advice on the best possible options of action. Under Mikal’s leadership I excelled. Join Vital Warrior and its Navy SEAL friends during prime diving season at Catalina Island off the coast of Southern California. SUNDIVER Scuba out of Long Beach will charter several dive events for Vital Warrior this summer in an effort to raise funds to help bring non-pharmaceutical healing methods to our military men and women as well as civilians who deal with Post Traumatic Stress.

This was Vital Warrior's first public event and it was a success. The purpose was to introduce ourselves to the community and let our Veterans know we're here to help. Thanks to the many guests and supporters who attended and helped with video taping the event, taking plenty of photos, and even getting our event on the Fox 11 Morning News.
