Professional SET women remain underrepresented in SET organizations. Companies have undertaken a multitude of initiatives to remedy the problem. The outcomes of these efforts have been mixed, and the under-representation of professional SET women continues to grow. Professional SET women remain underrepresented in SET organizations. Companies have undertaken a multitude of initiatives to remedy the problem. The outcomes of these efforts have been mixed, and the under-representation of professional SET women continues to grow. In this research study, I set forth a mixed-method research design to examine the correlates of SET organization managers’ intentions related to hiring, developing, and retaining SET women. The theory of planned behavior (TPB) (Ajzen, 1991) was used to assess and predict SET managers’ intentions to engage in Women-Friendly Behaviors (WFB) toward SET women. -

This article won the Elliott Jacques Memorial Award for Best Journal Article in 2014 from The Society of Consulting Psychology/ APA.
Some industries struggle more than others to hire, develop, promote and retain women. In this research study we studied the factors that influence SET managers' decision making when they are working on this problem. Insights from the study have informed our approach to helping companies gain a competitive advantage through talent strategies.Other authors
