What stood out at Meeting on the Mesa 2025? Across 40+ 1:1 conversations my colleague Sara Ricci and I had and dozens of impromptu hallway discussions, five clear themes emerged on how leaders are thinking about growth, focus, and resilience: 1️⃣ Focus is the new growth – companies are trimming to areas of true strength, with investors rewarding discipline over breadth. 2️⃣ AAV recalibrates while cell therapy resets – AAV pipelines are stabilizing (coalescing around lower dose indications shrinking manufacturing demand), while cell therapy is still finding equilibrium. 3️⃣ Non-viral innovation gains credibility and scalability. 4️⃣ Strategy & execution matter as much as science (or potentially even more). 5️⃣ The industry is growing up – the shift from hype to focus, from volume to value, is real.
