BMW is responsible for Upstate South Carolina's density of engineering, supply chain, and logistics jobs, and has contributed to drastic quality of life and infrastructure improvements across our region. To put it simply, BMW's approach has worked for Upstate South Carolina for nearly four decades. The people of our region, state, and nation have prospered due to BMW's investment, and in turn, those people have helped BMW build its most productive manufacturing facility in the world."

At our High Point Furniture Branch in High Point, NC, safety isn’t just a protocol – it’s a culture. Under the leadership of Branch Manager Barry Poole and EHS Manager Bill Covert, the team has made remarkable strides in strengthening safety awareness, reporting processes, and employee engagement, all while living out our company value of putting people first. One standout initiative has been the Environmental Health & Safety Suggestion Incentive Program. Launched in early 2023, the program empowers employees to report hazards and near-misses, recognize unsafe conditions, and suggest improvements – rewarding proactive behavior with monthly and quarterly recognition and incentives. But more than the rewards, it’s built trust. Employees know their voices are heard and their concerns are addressed. By tracking and analyzing incident data, the team identified areas for improvement and acted swiftly. One department reported the most near-misses, not because of more risk, but because of a strong commitment to reporting. This data-driven approach led to targeted “safety stand-downs,” which are focused conversations about stopping unsafe acts and real-time feedback that’s already shifting behaviors. In just over a year, the results are clear: more reporting, fewer hazards, and a deeper sense of shared responsibility. As Bill said, “Our employees see us putting our money where our mouth is.” High Point Furniture is setting a powerful example of what it means to care for our people, improve our culture, and ensure everyone goes home safe every day. ADS, Inc., a leading defense contractor in the region, is expanding its Virginia Beach footprint with a new 40,000 sq. ft. warehouse. Founded in 1997, ADS provides a wide assortment of military and tactical equipment, technology and logistics solutions to more than 5,000 suppliers, including the Department of Defense, federal agencies and first responders. The facility will streamline operations and enhance support for its customers—reinforcing Hampton Roads’ key role in the national defense supply chain. Governor Brian P. Kemp announced today that stow Group, a global leader in industrial storage and automation solutions, will establish its first Georgia-based manufacturing operation in Gordon County. The company is investing $36 million and creating approximately 200 new jobs in northwest Georgia. With access to ports, rail, highways, and an inland port, the region’s strong manufacturing reputation and strategic location make it an ideal home for stow Group’s growth. #McWhorterOnTheMove took us to Clarksville this week for a behind-the-scenes look at the new LG Chem cathode plant, the largest of its kind in the U.S. 🇺🇸 While the EV industry is evolving, this project shows momentum is still strong in Tennessee. Construction is on track, and the first of six lines will begin running next summer. Cathode materials made here will supply customers like General Motors’ Ultium Cells plant in Spring Hill, creating good jobs and long-term growth for Tennesseans. 🙌

The Ritedose Corporation has opened a cutting-edge new facility including a 225,000-square-foot central distribution and logistics center in Northeast Columbia, #SouthCarolina. This facility is one part of an $81 million multiphase expansion investment for the Columbia-based #pharmaceutical manufacturer. South Carolina's life sciences industry is worth $25.7 million annually and continues to grow!
