2D Animator (Freelance)

Role & Responsibilities

HAUS is seeking an experienced freelance 2D Animator. The ideal person will be responsible for the following:

• Create High-Impact 2D Animations: Lead the creation of engaging animations and motion graphics for deep tech client campaigns across social media, web, and presentation formats. You'll craft visually compelling content that makes complex technologies accessible and exciting, whether you're animating a product explainer for a quantum computing startup or a brand video for a robotics company.

• Visual Storytelling & Technical Communication: Develop animated explainer videos and visual narratives that translate dense technical concepts into clear, engaging stories. Your work will help audiences understand breakthrough technologies, from AI systems to biotech innovations, without sacrificing accuracy or nuance.

• Motion Graphics & Brand Systems: Design and animate motion graphics for client presentations, pitch decks, and marketing materials. You'll develop animation guidelines and motion design systems that ensure consistency across client brands, adapting your style to fit different visual identities while maintaining creative excellence.

• Collaboration & Stakeholder Management: Work directly with account teams and clients to storyboard and conceptualize animation projects. You'll present concepts, incorporate feedback efficiently, and guide projects from initial concept through final delivery, communicating your creative decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Platform-Optimized Content: Create animated content optimized for various platforms, understanding the nuances of what works on LinkedIn, X, and other platforms. You know how to adapt pacing, format, and style to maximize engagement across different contexts.

Requirements

• Passion for Deep Tech: You must love deep tech and demonstrate genuine curiosity about the technologies our clients are building.

• Portfolio Excellence: Strong portfolio or demo reel showcasing sophisticated 2D animation, motion graphics, and visual storytelling. We'll look for evidence of your ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and adapt your approach to different brand contexts.

• Software Proficiency: Expert proficiency in Adobe After Effects and other 2D animation software. You understand the full animation pipeline from concept through final delivery.

• Animation Fundamentals: Strong command of animation principles including timing, spacing, easing, and visual hierarchy. Your work demonstrates both technical skill and creative thinking.

• Technical Communication Skills: You can take complex technical concepts and translate them into clear, engaging animations that resonate with non-technical audiences while maintaining accuracy.

• Client Communication: Strong communication skills and the ability to present work, articulate creative decisions, and navigate feedback from multiple stakeholders. Your professionalism builds client confidence in ambitious creative directions.

• Self-Direction & Reliability: You manage your time well, meet deadlines, and communicate proactively. You don't need hand-holding to deliver quality work.

Bonus Skills: Experience with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro. Familiarity with Cinema 4D, Blender, or other 3D software. Experience with frame-by-frame animation techniques. Understanding of sound design and audio integration. Illustration or graphic design skills. Experience creating content for social media platforms.
