Our client, a 10-person architecture and design firm based in New York City is seeking an architect with approximately 8+ years of professional experience who is comfortable taking ownership of key project responsibilities and contributing meaningfully to a small-team environment.
About The Firm
Their Studio delivers thoughtful, high-quality work across a range of commercial project types and scales. Typical assignments include workplace environments, hospitality, retail-forward spaces, education and nonprofit projects, and building renovations. We also work on lobbies and storefronts, amenity suites, rooftops, landlord services, and repositioning and “pre-built” initiatives.
The Role
This is a broad, generalist position suited to an architect who enjoys both design and delivery. You will collaborate closely with senior staff, coordinate with consultants, and help drive the day-to-day progress of active projects. The right candidate brings a balance of design sensibility and technical rigor, strong communication, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
Project delivery and coordination
Support projects from early planning and concept through design development, construction documentation, and construction administration, as needed.
Coordinate with consultants (structural, MEP/FP, lighting, AV/IT, façade, etc.) and track deliverables and action items.
Produce and organize drawing sets, details, schedules, and finish documentation with strong QA/QC discipline.
Contribute to permitting and approvals, including responses to agency comments as required.
Participate in construction administration activities, including submittals, RFIs, site visits, field reports, punchlists, and issue resolution.
Design and client-facing work
Contribute to planning studies, test fits, design options, and iterative decision-making.
Prepare clear presentation materials and client-facing graphics to communicate design intent.
Collaborate with project leadership to align design intent with budget, schedule, and constructability.
Firm contribution
Support and mentor junior staff through day-to-day collaboration and feedback.
Help improve internal standards, templates, and workflows (production, coordination routines, and QA/QC).
Contribute to a collaborative, accountable studio culture.
Qualifications
Approximately 8+ years of professional experience in architecture (a mix of project types is welcome).
Demonstrated strength in documentation and consultant coordination.
Proficiency in Revit or equivalent BIM-based production; ability to produce clear, buildable drawings.
Working knowledge of code, accessibility, and life safety concepts.
Clear written and verbal communication; organized approach to deadlines and priorities.
Proactive mindset: identifies issues early, proposes solutions, and follows through.
Experience with workplace/interiors, landlord services, repositioning, amenity/lobby work, hospitality, or renovations (any combination).
NYC project experience and familiarity with local approvals processes.
Construction administration experience and comfort communicating with contractors.
Licensure (or active progress toward licensure).
Growth Opportunity
Partner-track opportunity for the right professional, with a clear path to increased leadership, client ownership, and long-term advancement.
The compensation for this position ranges from $110,000.00 - $150,000.00. Actual compensation will be dependent upon the specific role, office location as well as the individual’s qualifications, experience, skills and certifications.
