Our client in Ann Arbor, MI is seeking a Battery Design Engineer for it's Powertrain Design & Evaluation (PDE) group to work on high voltage battery development.

The primary responsibility of this role is to work on high voltage batteries for on-going efforts for mobility solutions and automotive products.

What you’ll be doing

• Development & Localization of high voltage (HV) battery pack or components for next gen electrified Vehicles (xEVs: Hybrid Electric, Plug-in Hybrid, Battery Electric, and Fuel Cell) or non-automotive mobility projects.
• Build a set of requirements for a High Voltage (HV) battery pack or components. You will be working with various cross functional departments.
• Develop a HV battery pack or components with a 3rd party supplier ensuring that the supplier meets our requirements while staying on project schedule
• Battery pack or component packaging, fastening, performance, strength and durability studies through close collaboration with other R&D groups.
• Build a validation plan with a supplier and ensure that the tests are done according to our expectations and the results meet our requirements
• Visit supplier’s manufacturing site to ensure that the process meets design intent and our expectations for high quality
• Identify and implement innovative methods and technologies for our future battery packs through competitor benchmarking.

Required Skills

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
• Experience developing battery parts with suppliers. 2 years
• Effective project management and time management skills- 2 years
• CAD skills (CATIA V5)

Nice to have:

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Full project cycle developing a product from concept phase to production.
