Most Casualty underwriting jobs promise “fast-paced environments,” “strong broker relationships,” and “profitable books of business.”

You’ve probably noticed that a lot of them also deliver… none of that.

So here’s something different.

Ledgebrook is an E&S MGA actually built for underwriters — not for legacy systems, not for committee meetings, and not for people who think innovation means adding another spreadsheet.

We’re looking for experienced Casualty Underwriters who want to do proper underwriting again. The kind where you have good data, strong tech, and enough autonomy to make decisions without waiting three weeks for someone to “circle back.”

What you’ll actually do:

• Work directly with wholesale brokers (the ones you actually like), over the phone, virtually and in person.
• Write and grow a profitable Casualty book across GL and multiple industry segments — manufacturing, construction, real estate, hospitality, habitational, distributors, you name it.
• Focus on appetite fit and conversion, not chasing junk submissions all day.
• Underwrite new and renewal business on both admitted and non-admitted paper.
• Use proper tech that speeds you up instead of slowing you down.

Who we’re looking for:

• 3+ years in E&S Casualty underwriting.
• Someone who can read a submission and know immediately if it’s a yes, a no, or a “if they fix this, maybe.”
• A broker-facing underwriter with relationships that actually produce business.
• Comfortable making decisions — and owning them.
• Understands pricing, risk selection, portfolio management and how to keep loss ratios where they should be.
• Curious, commercially aware, and allergic to mediocrity.
• Okay with “blank sheet of paper” environments — because we’re still building, improving, and breaking things on purpose.
• Able to travel when needed (we trust you to figure out when that’s worth it).

If you prefer rigid hierarchies, slow processes and 47-step approvals, this won’t suit you. If you like accountability, speed and being judged on your underwriting — it absolutely will.
