Chief Financial Officer (CFO)


Location: Remote (United States)

Cash compensation: $200,000–$250,000 (base salary plus bonus)

Equity: meaningful stock option grant (1–2%)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer to lead the finance organization for a growing, profitable operating company. The CFO will be a key member of the executive team, responsible for financial strategy, operational excellence, and scalable infrastructure to support continued growth.

This role requires a disciplined financial leader with strong accounting fundamentals, proven team leadership, and experience operating in fast-growth or private-equity-backed environments.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Leadership

  • Provide strategic financial leadership and serve as a trusted partner to the founders and executive team
  • Own the company’s financial strategy, planning, and performance management

Accounting & Controls

  • Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, AR/AP, and month-end close
  • Lead and develop the accounting team, including a Head of Accounting and distributed staff
  • Ensure timely, accurate financial reporting in accordance with applicable standards
  • Maintain strong internal controls and financial governance

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes
  • Develop and maintain KPI reporting and executive dashboards
  • Analyze financial and operational performance to drive profitability and efficiency

Treasury & Cash Management

  • Manage cash flow, liquidity, and working capital
  • Oversee banking relationships, vendor terms, and payment processes
  • Manage any debt facilities and related compliance

Tax, Audit & Compliance

  • Oversee tax planning, filings, and compliance with external advisors
  • Manage annual audits and financial statement reviews
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and reporting requirements

Strategic & Transactional Support

  • Support capital raising activities and financing processes
  • Lead financial diligence and integration support for acquisitions
  • Oversee financial systems, ERP, and data infrastructure

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive finance and accounting leadership experience
  • Prior CFO, VP of Finance, or equivalent senior finance leadership role preferred
  • Strong accounting background with deep understanding of financial reporting and controls
  • Experience in high-growth, PE-backed, or operationally complex businesses
  • Proven ability to lead and scale finance teams (10+ team members)
  • Experience working with distributed or offshore teams a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; CPA or MBA preferred

Industry experience is flexible; operational and growth-stage experience is more important than sector specialization.
