The Opportunity

The Executive Vice President of Strategic Initiatives and M&A will play a critical leadership role in shaping and advancing the organization’s long-term strategic direction. Reporting directly to the President and COO, this executive will lead enterprise-wide strategy development and oversee the full M&A lifecycle—from opportunity identification through due diligence, deal execution, and post-merger integration.

This role will serve as a key thought partner to the COO and executive team, translating strategic priorities into actionable initiatives and ensuring alignment across business units. The position offers the opportunity to make a significant impact in a fast-paced, evolving organization backed by a leading private equity sponsor.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Corporate Development

  • Act as a trusted strategic partner to the COO, providing insight and guidance on business planning, market positioning, and long-term growth strategies.
  • Partner with senior leaders, investors, and external stakeholders to design and execute initiatives that drive sustainable expansion and market differentiation.

  • Develop and deliver board-ready materials and executive presentations that effectively communicate strategic progress, investment opportunities, and business performance.

Mergers & Acquisitions

  • Oversee the full lifecycle of M&A activity — from deal sourcing, valuation, and due diligence to negotiation and post-acquisition integration.
  • Establish a disciplined, data-driven framework for identifying and assessing acquisition opportunities that align with the company’s strategic goals.
  • Build and nurture a strong acquisition pipeline through proactive relationship management with founders, industry leaders, and advisory partners.
  • Direct financial modeling, risk analysis, and synergy planning to ensure transactions deliver measurable value.
  • Serve as a trusted liaison for potential acquisition targets, particularly founder-led or privately held organizations navigating complex deal processes.

Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Champion alignment and execution across business units, ensuring that strategic initiatives are implemented efficiently and effectively.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Operations, Legal, and HR to support seamless integration, operational scalability, and organizational excellence.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and results-driven performance across the executive leadership team.
  • Ensure that governance, policies, and performance metrics align with corporate standards and private equity objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related discipline; MBA or advanced degree strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in corporate strategy, M&A, or strategic finance.
  • Demonstrated success leading mergers, acquisitions, and integrations within a high-growth or private equity-backed environment.
  • Strong financial and analytical expertise, including valuation, modeling, and deal structuring.
  • Exceptional executive presence with the ability to influence and communicate effectively across C-suite and investor audiences.
  • Experience in healthcare, life sciences, or professional services sectors preferred.

The Opportunity

This is a pivotal role to shape the future of a rapidly growing medical communications agency supported by a leading private equity sponsor. The Executive Vice President of Strategic Initiatives & M&A will be a key architect of the company’s evolution—driving both organic and inorganic growth strategies that strengthen its leadership position within the healthcare communications landscape.
