Head of Innovation

Hartmann Young are partnered with a leading Contract Research Organisation to appoint a Head of Innovation & Artificial Intelligence.

This senior leadership role will shape and deliver the organisation’s innovation and AI agenda, accelerating the evolution of research services through smarter processes, digital enablement, and data-driven technologies. The role partners closely with executive leadership to translate emerging technologies into practical, scalable solutions that enhance performance, efficiency, and commercial impact.

Key Responsibilities:

• Set and lead the innovation and AI strategy across research and clinical operations
• Advance modern, technology-enabled ways of working to improve speed, quality, and scalability
• Evaluate and deploy new digital and AI capabilities that deliver clear business value
• Collaborate with senior stakeholders to ensure innovation initiatives support strategic and commercial objectives
• Drive organisational adoption through structured change management, governance, and capability building
• Act as an internal and external ambassador for innovation and digital excellence

Requirements:

• Senior-level experience in innovation, AI, or digital transformation within a CRO (ideally) or other life science organisations
• Strong understanding of research operations, data ecosystems, and AI-enabled platforms
• Experience delivering technology-led change in regulated settings
• Proven ability to influence at executive level and lead cross-functional initiatives
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
