This role is a critical leadership position within the global legal function and the Japan business as you will lead and expand the legal team locally, provide legal support across the Asia region, and manage a small team of lawyers. This is a high-profile role offering the chance to raise your profile in the domestic sports market and head up your own legal team in territory.

Responsibilities
Negotiate, draft, and oversee a wide range of agreements, including high-value sports and entertainment related deals, distribution, sponsorship, advertising agreements, and technology service contracts.
Provide legal guidance on all commercial aspects of the business, including rights, partnerships, marketing, product, operations, and production.
Lead the legal support function and collaborate with senior business stakeholders.
Handle consumer, regulatory, labor, etc. including managing high-profile litigation.
What You'll Bring
Fluent in Japanese and English, both verbal and written to legal drafting standard.
JD (or equivalent) from ABA-Accredited law school (U.S. or Japan)
Minimum 6 years of legal experience post-bar admission (prior experience either within Japan or with Japanese-based companies preferred)
Strong experience in private practice or in-house within the media sector
Experience in Japanese corporate law and M&A (preferred)
