Sales Director
Location: Salt Lake City, Utah (In-office, M–F 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
Type: Full-time, salaried + commission
Compensation: OTE $130,000+
About VanCraft and This Role
VanCraft is a direct-to-consumer manufacturer of premium campervans, specializing in high-quality, minimalist adventure vehicles. We own the entire customer experience from first contact to final delivery. Our growing team is passionate about craftsmanship, customer satisfaction, and making the vanlife dream accessible to more people.
We are hiring a full-time Sales Director to lead and execute the majority of our direct campervan sales. This is a hands-on role and currently the only full-time sales position at VanCraft. While the title includes "Director," the primary function is day-to-day sales. Over time, this role may evolve to manage regional sales teams, dealer partnerships, or additional revenue streams.
As a direct-to-consumer manufacturer, we prioritize long-term relationships and a high-touch sales process. This role will also contribute to improving the customer journey, refining internal processes, and supporting VanCraft’s growth through insights and collaboration across teams.
Key ResponsibilitiesCore Sales Responsibilities
- Act as the primary point of contact for prospective buyers across the country
- Respond to inbound leads and perform targeted outbound follow-up using HubSpot CRM
- Conduct phone consults, video calls, and in-person walk-throughs to educate and build rapport
- Understand customer use cases and recommend appropriate models and add-ons
- Prepare sales materials, quotes, and deposit paperwork
- Follow up persistently and professionally until a non-refundable deposit is secured
- Meet or exceed monthly van sales quotas and sales activity targets
- Track all sales activities in HubSpot CRM, including notes, statuses, and tasks
- Proactively manage and optimize the sales pipeline to keep it moving efficiently
- Collaborate with the Sales Admin (Sadie) to hand off sold units for fulfillment
Customer Experience (Pre-Sale Only)
- Deliver a white-glove experience during the decision-making phase
- Tailor consultations and walkthroughs to the buyer’s lifestyle and goals
- Set realistic expectations around timelines, production, and delivery
- Reinforce VanCraft’s premium positioning and post-sale support culture
- Make customers feel understood, not just sold to
Sales Strategy & Process Improvement
- Contribute to refining how we sell, including tools, scripts, and touchpoints
- Identify and reduce friction in the sales journey
- Collaborate with marketing to align messaging with what converts
- Refine nurture sequences and automated workflows in HubSpot
Forecasting & Reporting
- Share weekly and monthly insights with leadership
- Forecast upcoming sales based on pipeline data
- Report on trends such as lead quality, conversion bottlenecks, and close times
- Help set and hit realistic monthly and quarterly sales targets
Content Collaboration
- Document frequently asked questions and sales objections
- Flag missing marketing or sales assets that could help future buyers
- Occasionally participate in video walkthroughs or product explainers
Competitive & Market Intelligence
- Monitor competitor offerings, pricing, and promotions
- Share insights to improve positioning, pricing, and features
Upsell & Cross-Sell Readiness
- Stay informed and ready to pitch upcoming services or offerings
- Prepare to sell upfits, used vans, or service packages as those become available
Event Representation
- Represent VanCraft at industry events and trade shows, typically one weekend per month from April to September
- Travel makes up approximately 10 percent of the role — it is important but relatively minor and occasionally demanding
- Attend occasional internal team meetings, regional pop-ups, or promotional events
Sales KPIs and Accountability
This is a performance-based role with clear sales metrics. You will be expected to:
- Meet or exceed monthly van sales quotas
- Consistently achieve activity targets, including:
- Calls made
- Texts and emails sent
- Consults and showings held
- Lead response time and follow-through
- Sales cycle length
- Close rate
- Lost reason analysis
- Event and trade show ROI
All activity will be tracked in HubSpot, with support and coaching provided regularly.
QualificationsRequired
- 3+ years of experience in high-touch, consultative sales
- Proven ability to close large-ticket sales and build long-term customer relationships
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Confidence using modern sales tools (CRM, text, email, video, etc.)
- Comfort working in person, on camera, and over the phone
- Organized, proactive, and accountable
- Willing to work full-time in Salt Lake City and take calls outside of business hours
Preferred
- Experience in direct-to-consumer or lifestyle product sales
- Automotive, RV, or outdoor industry experience
- Familiarity with HubSpot CRM
- Prior attendance or involvement with trade shows or brand activations
- Creative thinker who enjoys identifying improvements and acting on insights
In terms of benefits, we provide PTO and holiday pay, a healthy allotment of campervan usage, a stocked kitchen for drinks and snacks, cell phone stipend, company laptop, and a great company culture. We do NOT currently offer any insurance beyond a small IHCRA reimbursement or a retirement plan. We hope to provide these in the next couple of years.
