Senior Project Manager - Local to Fairfax VA

  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with IT staff, academic and administrative departments, customers, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Stay informed of business needs, technology initiatives, and project management best practices within the university environment.
  • Establish project foundations by working with sponsors to develop project charters and baseline reports.
  • Manage stakeholder and team communications throughout project lifecycle.
  • Drive continuous improvement through the creation of actionable project schedules, budgets, and well-defined scopes.
  • Track and report project risks, recommend mitigation strategies, and escalate issues as needed.
  • Oversee productivity and effectiveness of multiple projects, including status reporting and tracking of budgets, timelines, and scope.
  • Proactively identify and resolve project issues, develop contingency plans, and manage dependencies.
  • Apply and own project management methodologies and tools, ensuring compliance with best practices and standards.
  • Utilize change control processes and regularly update project progress to teams and leadership.
  • Foster an inclusive, transparent, and collaborative team culture aligned with college values.
  • Support process improvement initiatives across the Project Management Office (PMO) and IT organization.
  • Oversee use and implementation of project management platforms (e.g., TeamDyamix, ServiceNow, MS Project, Asana, Jira, Smartsheets).
  • Collaborate with management to support PMO vision and strategic objectives.
  • Stay current with evolving technologies, standards, and project management trends, especially within higher education.
  • Lead, motivate, and support diverse project teams, ensuring effective communication and stakeholder engagement.
