Senior Underwriter

Job Title: Compliance Specialist

Work Location Name: Remote-MI

Duration: 6+ months

Job Description:

• Increased loan volume and heavier workload.
• Conversion to permanent role is under discussion but not guaranteed at this time.
• Primary responsibility: Re-auditing loan files both pre- and post-closing, including re-underwriting files.
• Expected workload: Approximately 5 files per day.
• Loan types: Primarily conventional loans, with FHA and VA also included.
• Common underwriting defect: Verifying qualifying income.

Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years of underwriting experience (manager may consider strong candidates with 4 years).
• DE Certification preferred but not required.
• Jumbo and Down Payment Assistance experience is a plus; overqualified candidates will be considered.

Tools & Technology:

• Must be proficient in Google Sheets, AirTable, Adobe Acrobat, and Encompass.
• Role is manual, requiring detailed review of vendor-provided items and new documents.

Team Structure & Collaboration:

• Team consists of 4 auditors. The manager works closely with the group.
• Collaborative environment: team members assist each other regularly and work very closely together.
• Issues requiring escalation are reported to the hiring manager, who will review and escalate as needed.
