Supplier Quality Engineer – Electrical & Electronics
Work Arrangement: Hybrid (2 days/week in office)
Working Hours: Flexible based on business needs
Travel: Domestic and international, up to 50%
Location: Schenectady, New York
Opportunity: W2 Contract w/ health benefits offered
Hourly Pay Rate: $55.42 plus overtime
Role Summary
The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for managing the quality performance of assigned suppliers and ensuring compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements. This role leads supplier qualifications, drives quality improvements, investigates quality issues, and ensures effective corrective and preventive actions. The position includes strong supplier engagement, cross-functional collaboration, and on-site support.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and qualify suppliers to ensure consistent compliance with engineering and quality requirements
- Lead product and manufacturing process qualifications at supplier sites
- Support new supplier evaluation, onboarding, and surveillance audits
- Drive supplier quality metrics, SRG audits, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Manage supplier non-conformances, deviation requests, warranty claims, and root cause analysis
- Conduct inspections, witness FAT/COP testing, and third-party laboratory testing
- Collect CTQ data, perform process capability analysis, and improve supplier performance
- Serve as the technical interface between suppliers, sourcing, engineering, and manufacturing teams
- Provide quality input during design reviews and support supplier development activities
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering (or related technical field)
- 8–12 years of experience in electrical/electronics engineering, manufacturing, or quality
- Minimum 3 years of supplier quality or supply chain experience
- Strong experience with PCBAs, wiring, control panels, sensors, and related electrical components
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, wiring schematics, and international standards
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Willingness to travel extensively (>50%)
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced technical degree
- Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt or equivalent experience
- Knowledge of IEC, IEEE, ISO, ANSI, NEMA, and nuclear standards
- ISO Lead Auditor or formal RCA certification
- Experience in power generation or gas turbine environments
