- In addition to focusing your research goals, you may need to get creative about how you employ research methods to maximize findings in minimal time. It may take some getting used to for those of us who come from a rigorous research background, but there are many ways to flex methods to adapt to shorter timeframes. You can run sessions remotely instead of in person, reduce the number of sessions overall, run unmoderated studies, utilize lower fidelity prototypes, recruit participants in an unusual way, such as on social media or intercepting in a public location, or any combination of these methods. These are all common ways to shorten the timeframe and investment into traditional research activities. To decide what to alter, keep your research goal in mind and look for opportunities to cut while still answering your key questions. For instance, maybe a usability test a specific interaction with colleagues who aren't familiar with the project instead of recruiting outside users…
