Meet your instructor
- While you're downloading those hands on exercise files, let me just take a moment to introduce myself. My name's Rich Harrington and I'm a visual storyteller. I've been working with nonlinear video since the very beginning, using some of the very first computer systems that came to light to bring this new style of video editing. I began my career working in broadcast news, but then found myself brand branching out into areas like corporate video, live events, podcasting, and of course, web content. Now I really enjoy the ability to tell visual stories, using both photos and video to bring things to life. Through the years I've had a lot of opportunities to train and help people. I've authored about 40 books and put out more than 200 full length courses. So when I tell you that I'm passionate about these tools, I really mean it. Additionally, I have my own production company called RHED Pixel, we've been in business for more than 20 years and we do a lot of work with different types of clients. We help a lot of folks in the nonprofit space, as well as the high-tech space to tell their stories and reach more people. Also, I publish about photography every day. I run a website called Photofocus, and I like to help people learn more about working with their cameras. Additionally, when I get the opportunity, I travel the world and speak at conferences and events to really bring this passion to a broader audience. I work professionally as both a director and a photographer and I've also worked very extensively as a video editor in my past. When it comes to Premier Pro, I really understand it. I've been the co-author on the official Adobe Premier Classroom in a Book, and have also helped Adobe build their certified instructor program. But I also truly understand those of you who aren't video professionals. I've helped teach Premier for years, and I understand that there's a lot of folks who don't have traditional video backgrounds who need to use video. Maybe you run a website, or you work in marketing, or you are a photographer and you're looking for ways to tell your story. Fortunately, Premier offers a familiar interface, particularly if you've used other Adobe products like Photoshop. I'm going to really help you relate to this tool and get things put together quickly. So with this in mind, go ahead and finish downloading those exercise files and I'm going to walk you through some things to get your computer and devices set up so you're ready to edit video.
