- A traditional approach to building teams is to assemble them. The team lead decides who needs to be involved, choosing people based on factors such as their skills or on their past history working together. But assembling a team can be a very subjective process without necessarily relying on useful or relevant data to back up your decisions. Instead, think of putting together effective teams as a process of design by co-creating an understanding of the problems to be solved, envisioning scenarios for the kinds of capacities that various team members might bring, and treating it as a creative exercise, you can make it a much more effective and inclusive process.
