Primary sources of stress at work

- Not all stress is the same. Some of it comes from the outside. Things like deadlines, traffic, financial pressure, or conflicts at work. These are external sources of stress, and they're often easy to spot. But a lot of stress starts from the inside, from our own expectations, self-criticism, fear of failure, or our need to please. These are internal sources and they can actually be harder to recognize. Understanding where your stress is coming from is the first step towards managing it effectively. When we don't take time to identify the true source of our stress, whether it's the task in front of us, or the story we're telling ourselves about it, we risk treating the wrong problem. It's kind of like putting a bandaid on the wrong wound. We know that stress can be useful once we know how to work with it.
