- Over the years, I've come to understand that effective communication is not just a soft skill, it's a power skill. It's one of the most critical competencies for leadership, especially in today's fast-paced, virtual, hybrid, and increasingly diverse world of work. I practice the four Cs of communication. One, be clear. People need to understand what's expected of them. When goals, roles, and decisions aren't clearly communicated, it becomes nearly impossible to hold others accountable. Two, be concise. In our information-overloaded world, brevity is a gift. Get to the point, eliminate the fluff, and focus on key takeaways. Three, be consistent. Your message should align with your behavior. Inconsistent communication confuses people and undermines leadership credibility. Four, be credible. Your words must be rooted in honesty, accuracy, and integrity. People will trust and follow you when they believe you know what you're talking about and when your actions reinforce your messages. A…
