- Let's be clear. Having a mix of people on your team with various backgrounds, perspectives, cultures, and skill sets is a great first step. We call that diversity, but unless everyone feels included, respected, and like they truly belong, you are not maximizing your greatest asset, which is your people. So let me break each of these down. Inclusion is about intentionally creating a culture where everyone feels welcome, valued, and supported. It's making sure that every voice has the opportunity to be heard, and every individual has the tools and support to thrive. Belonging is the emotional outcome of inclusion. It's the connection, security, and community that we feel when we are accepted for who we are and that we don't have to leave parts of ourselves at the door. Respect is the foundation.
