Understanding hearing accessibility issues
- One of the main reasons we add captions is to help people with different types of hearing impairments or disabilities to be able to consume video content. After all, video can have a wealth of information in it, with visuals, graphics, details that people can see, but often, if they're unable to hear or read the content of the video, there's difficulty in comprehension. So here are some things to keep in mind about the current state of the world. When it comes to people with hearing impairments or challenges, this generally means that is a partial or total inability to hear sound. Remember, someone can have partial hearing loss or can have a different type of impairment that makes it difficult to hear the audio content of a video. When we refer to someone as having deafness, generally speaking, this means they have little to no hearing. So the hearing that they may have doesn't produce results that allow for comprehension. And something to keep in mind, hearing loss can be temporary…
