Interpreting visual cues and body language

- Small talk as the name suggests is about talking with people. However, in small talk, as in all spoken communication the words are only part of the bigger picture. Experts disagree on the numbers, but agree on the fact that a huge portion of our communication is nonverbal. If you're making small talk in English, you might be most concerned about the words themselves on whether you're using or understanding them correctly. But being able to interpret body language and visual cues is just as important if not more so. Paying close attention to these things, can give you an idea of whether you should start a conversation with someone, when it's time to change the subject and when it would be best to bring the conversation to an end.
