- [Man] Here is MediaInfo, my favorite tool to display the most relevant technical data for video and audio files. This is a free app that you can get for both Windows and Mac at mediaarea.net/mediainfo. It is an open source software, which means that end users and developers have freedom to study, improve, and redistribute the program. So why this is so useful? Well, this app will analyze any video or audio file you drag on top of it and display, among other things, the container name, the format, duration, overall bit rate, title, author, director, album, track number, date, et cetera. But more important, the video and audio format, codec, aspect ratio, frame rate, beat rate, choral space, chroma sub sampling, beat depth, scan type, scan order, and all of the important data you need to know about your files.
