LANXESS Consumer Care’s Post

Do you know why today’s #WorldMosquitoDay is celebrated? 🦟 On August 20th, 1897, a British doctor made a groundbreaking discovery. Sir Ronald Ross found the malaria parasite in the stomach of a female Anopheles mosquito, providing the first evidence that mosquitoes transmit malaria between humans. The world mosquito day is an opportunity to spend attention to the mostly underestimated role of mosquitoes for carrying diseases. Mosquitoes are not only annoying pests, but also important indicators of environmental change. Due to climate change, many mosquito species are spreading to new regions and extending their activity periods. This increases the risk of diseases such as malaria, chikungunya virus and dengue fever even in Europe. 🌍🌦️ Nowadays, it is even more important to protect yourself for example by using insect repellents with our Saltidin®. On this World Day let us reflect on the links between climate change, health and biodiversity and work together to raise awareness and strengthen prevention. #Saltidin #Picaridin #Health #Malaria #Dengue #Insectrepellent #Innovation #Protectyourself
